Ask three software houses in Pakistan what your app will cost and you will get three very different numbers for the same brief. Here is the honest version — real ranges, and the reasoning behind them. The formula behind every quote Cost = hours × rate
That is all a quote ever is. Complexity, platform, design polish and integrations are simply different ways of changing the hours. So there are only two ways to bring a price down: cut the hours, or change who is doing the work. Most people spend their energy negotiating the rate. The real savings are almost always in the hours.
What it costs in 2026 Typical ranges when you hire an established agency in Pakistan for mobile app development: • Basic app — 3 to 6 screens, no user accounts, no backend. PKR 150,000 to 450,000, delivered in 3 to 6 weeks. • Standard MVP — 8 to 15 screens, user accounts, a real backend and an admin panel. PKR 500,000 to 1,500,000, delivered in 8 to 14 weeks. • Complex app — payments, real-time features, multiple user roles and third-party integrations. PKR 1,500,000 to 4,000,000, delivered in 4 to 7 months. • Enterprise build — security and compliance work, legacy system integration, serious scale. PKR 4,000,000 and up, over 6 to 12 months.
Roughly $550 to $14,400 and above, at PKR 278 to the dollar in August 2026. Freelancers typically come in 40 to 60% below these figures — reasonable for a basic app, risky once there is a backend involved. International clients hiring a Pakistani team work in dollars instead, usually $25 to $45 an hour. That puts a solid MVP somewhere between $10,000 and $40,000, against $60,000 to $135,000 for the same build in the United States. That gap is the entire reason Pakistan's software export sector exists. What pushes the price up • Custom backend logic. Anything unique to your business has to be built and tested from scratch. • Real-time features such as chat, live tracking or instant notifications. • Payments, especially local gateway integration and the compliance around it. • Choosing native builds over cross-platform builds. Flutter and React Native cover both platforms from a single codebase and usually save 30 to 40%. • Scope changes mid-build. This is the single most common reason projects run over budget.
The costs that rarely appear in a quote Budget 25 to 40% on top of the build price for your first year: • Apple Developer Program — $99 a year, every year, or your app comes off the store. • Google Play Console — $25, one time. • Hosting — $20 to $200 a month at launch, rising as you grow. • Third-party services such as payments, SMS, maps and push notifications — $50 to $500 a month once you have real traffic. • Maintenance — 15 to 20% of the build cost each year. This one is not optional. Operating system updates alone will break something annually.
An app you cannot afford to maintain is an app you will rebuild in two years. Three questions worth asking before you sign Is there a written scope document? If it is not written down, it is not in the price. A fixed quote produced within 24 hours, with no discovery call, is a guess dressed up as a number.
Who owns the source code? You should, and the contract should say so before you pay anything. Vagueness here is disqualifying.
What happens after launch? Ask for the maintenance plan and the response times in writing. Apps are not finished at launch, only released.
